A couple of students in Germany generated images scripted from a software called SpamPaint...by interacting with Spam emails. First of all, SpamPaint is written in PHP and makes heavy use of the GDlib2. For converting the textual spam into graphics.
Well, what can I say..enjoy.
Design process:
After scratchbuilding Iron Zombie and Iron M & M I was thinking about assorted puns that might be fun to make on Iron Man.
Tin Cans, Iron Cans...and then, in one swell 'foop' my brain stumbled across a can of Spam.
The faceplate, arms and legs are made from Supersculpey, and the custom label I whipped up in Photoshop.
Actually, the label is very elaborate in itself, and I'll post that as well eventually.
I wanted a kitchen type setting for the background, including some stainless steel, glass and benchtop elements so I could get some nice reflected highlights. It's only lit with natural daylight and the stovehood's built in light.
Alex has created a program that takes the ASCII values that are found in in the text of spam messages, and tells it to determine the attributes and qualities to create unique Spam Plants. Alex has also developed a program that accepts junk email, and turns it into 3D Spam Architecture models using various keywords, patterns, and rhythms found in the text. Unfortunately Alex is keeping this software for himself.

Peeps think its a bit cute for my gallery.. but spam art is hard to find.
Created by The EnBW Spamrecycler.
Simply send your spam mail to spam@spamrecycler.com
And watch data waste turn into art.
Every spam e-mail sent in, is shredded and broken down into its very particles. These letters, word fragments and images are used to create new, virtual graphics, small personal pieces of art that you can print out or use as a desktop background.
The actual generating bit much more entertaining to watch than the final finish work.
What is most interesting is that the patron of this project EnBW is Germany's Largest energy company. They invest in technology that converts all sort of rubbish into new energy- household waste, bulk refuse, industrial waste, garden refuse and even cow manure.
Spamrecycler is their answer to data waste .
This picture is generated out of one of the spams I have received today.

School project by maryisadinosaur.
"wrapping things in things", I am not sure how Maryisa score for this project. I find it hard to see how it fits the criteria.
Hope you pass.
Folksy spam are are so mind boggling. The word "why" immediately comes to mind.
Created by Faith Farrel from Minneapolis, the home of spam.
Made out of beads, and beans? Not sure maybe they are all beans.
Will Faith, please tell me why and how you made this?
It is pretty...unique. Creativity knows no boundary.
Wow how pop, this is the coolest arts and craft style graffiti I have seen. In the streets of Eindhoven.
Kindergarten cut and paste goes main stream. I kowtow to you.

This one gets my vote for "why".
I was looking at this picture trying to find some logic.

A Spam musubi is composed of a block of salted (not vinegared; that would be sushi) rice with a slice of Spam (cooked or uncooked) on top, and typically nori (dried seaweed) surrounding it to keep it in shape.
It's a popular dish in Hawaii. Worth a trip?
This apparently is Obama's favorite dish.
